They were better than I expected, Mike. I wasn't as concerned about Lane Johnson as maybe some others -- he's athletic and talented. I thought Dennis Kelly at right tackle would be more of an issue. But Kelly held his own there. I was really impressed. The Eagles averaged 4.9 yards per rush and allowed only one sack. When you look at the first Dallas game compared to this one, it's night and day.

I don't, but it does seem like an obvious answer. They just got overmatched against Carolina. The Panthers beat them, plain and simple. Against the Cowboys, I think they focused so much on the pass. There was one big run when the Eagles had their nickel on the field against 22 personnel. I didn't quite understand that one.

I am the eternal Iggle optimist. My prediction: Sam keeps getting more comfortable, the D tightens up, and the program's conditioning gets us to the division finish line. However even if this all happens we have to get more out of the receivers especially 17 and 86. Thoughts?

That's one part of it. I think he's starting to understand the system and his teammates, too. It didn't help that he barely played during the preseason. I wouldn't crown him yet, but he's better now than he was earlier this season. The Carolina game was a step back. The question in that game was how much was on his WRs.
