I was not surprised by the decision, just the timing. Entering the offseason, I didn't think Kendricks would be on the Eagles in 2018. Given his projected role, the cap hit was too significant. But when he wasn't released/traded by the draft, I thought they'd hold onto him for a little longer. If Bradham/Hicks stay healthy, the Eagles will be OK. But if they suffer an injury at LB, the Eagles will miss Kendricks. Maybe Corey Nelson or another player can step in and play well, but they're less proven.

The time you get to spend watching OTAs, is that time frame set by the league, or does the league set a minimum amount of time that the media can watch? I guess I'm trying to figure out how generous the Eagles are to the media for these events and where they rank, if you have any idea, league-wide with the access they give reporters. Or does the NFL give strict deadlines that teams can't deviate from?

zach, there's a lot of talk about the superbowl hangover because the players are coming off a short off season after a long season. I was wondering, do you and the other beats have a similar issue? You're one of the best in the biz for my money, but I'm curious if you felt you had less time to prepare for the season this year since your season was like a month and a half longer last year?

Thank you for the nice words, George. I don't think that will be an issue for me. I was eager to get out there yesterday for practice. After some time to recharge this summer, I'll be enthused for training camp. Frankly, I like covering the team when they go deeper. There's more interest, more readers, more stories.

I don't know what's happening with salaries -- Eagles are mum on that -- but I don't think it says anything about how the organization views Douglas or Roseman. In Weidl's case, you can say insurance, but I think they had a spot to promote him to -- they didn't need to have hte "assistant" part of his title, and he's been a key part of the front office.
