Thank you for joining the weekly chat. It's draft day. Much to discuss. Let's get right to it...
I don't see that happening, Alex. I think the Browns take a QB No. 1.
Maybe not a top 5 QB, but I think one of these QBs is really good. I'd bet on Josh Rosen, if he can stay healthy.
Depends on the position. A running back would. A third safety would.
In general? I think Derwin James is going to be an outstanding NFL player, like a perennial Pro Bowl type. Maurice Hurst is a good player, but there's the health question.
I'd be surprised. I just don't think they have the ammo. You can't rule it out, but I'd be surprised.
That would be ideal. I think they'd sign up for that.
It depends who's on the board and who has leverage.
I take a look at it, but I don't present my mock draft as journalism as much as entertainment. The reality is, I don't have as much insight on the other teams as the Eagles. I take more pride in predicting the Eagles. I got it right last year with Derek Barnett. This year, I'm predicting a first-round trade.
I disagree with you on Zach Ertz. He's a top 5 TE in the NFL. I agree they need to add to that spot and they will. But they don't need Ertz's replacement.
Nope, it's going to be broken on Twitter. If that bothers you, I'd suggest to stay away from a second screen and just watch the TV feed. I understand both sides of the argument, but news is news.
It depends who's on the board. They'd be wise to take an offensive tackle.
I haven't, for the reason I said before. I'm not as confident in my NFL-wide mock draft. I do it because it's a good exercise and I think it's fun for readers to read, but if I'm being entirely candid, I don't know what's going with the Chargers as much as I do the Eagles. I care quite a bit about my Eagles opinions. If I'm totally off base about the way the Eagles are thinking about things, that's a problem.
In the past, I'd say the Ravens. They've had a few bad drafts. The Packers and the Seahawks have built good rosters through the draft. Eagles are doing a better job. A lot of it is coaching and developing, too.
I've heard some teams go based on a tier of players. If there's no one left in a given tier, they trade back. If the tier is crowded, they can trade back a bit. If there are a few players left from that tier, they take the positional value. If there's only one guy left in that tier, they might try to trade up.
I don't think Eagles spend a draft pick on a punter. I can see them signing one.
If the Giants have a QB they like at No. 2, they should take him. I feel strongly about that.
I think Vaitai was a good spot starter and could start in the NFL. I don;'t know if he's the left tackle of the future, though.
Danny Watkins and Jaiquawn Jarrett in 2011. Obviously Marcus Smith in 2014. Eric Rowe in 2016, considering he lasted only one year and they only got a 4th-round pick back for him.
