Thank you for joining the weekly chat. Second week of OTAs, much going on, as usual. Let's get to your questions...
Destiny Vaeao has had two years of development. Elijah Qualls developed last year. Have you seen Aziz Shittu play? He hasn't been on active roster. They can look for depth, but you're talking about your 4th and 5th DT when Jernigan is healthy. I wouldn't lose much sleep over that depth at this point. They have Cox and Ngata. Bennett can play inside. So can Graham.
It's Doug Pederson's offense. It's hard for anyone to say exactly how much of a role Reich and Flip had considering Pederson called the plays. I'm curious to see how they replace them behind the scenes. But the play-calling doesn't change.
I think Joe Douglas deserves credit, but so does Howie Roseman. He's the one with his finger on the button. Certainly if Douglas leaves, the Eagles would leave the head of their player personnel department. That's big. But what you need to hope is you've created a strong internal pipeline and philosophy.
I think that's for insurance and discounted players, and then carry-over for next year.
A corner. Schwartz had good things to say about him. Looking forward to seeing him this summer.
No update. And he's been in Hawaii, I believe.
I'm not pushing a narrative. Jim Schwartz praised his versatility and what it allowed the defense to do. I think the Eagles still add a safety.
They could look for a body there. But they've also invested time in Gerry and Grugier-Hill. They signed Corey Nelson and LaRoy Reynolds, both of whom are established NFL players.
He's impressed so far. A lot to like with him. But we'll see what happens when pads come on and it's not just glorified passing drills.
Haven't heard a definitive return date yet. Still watching practice from the sideline.
No, he'll be the No. 3 QB.
Still early, but he has the speed the Eagles like. He's competing for a spot. I can't tell you he's been exceptional, but he hasn't been a focus of mine, either.
At these practices, we don't get to go back and watch film. All you have is the play. So you might be focusing on something else -- a defensive lineman, for example -- and not as much on the WR.
Probably early in training camp once teams have a better sense of their rosters (and more injuries occur).
I don't think so, but I don't know to be honest. It's not an ideal situation, but considering he's coming off injury, my guess is no.
Mike Silver is an outstanding report and he's well-sourced. Foles denied it publicly. There's usually more to a story that meets the eye. I don't have any more details other than I asked Foles twice about it, and he said both teams he was not aware of any trade offer.
He's taking part in group installation. Not yet in team drills.
So I think that's solid progress. Looks like he's on track for Week 1.
Thank you for all the questions. Talk to you next week.
