Hello, friends. Here we go.
As ever, Thursday begins with the college women's 400-meter hurdles.
And as ever, while the schedule says we start at 10 a.m., we actually start at 9:50.
The first starter's gun has been fired, and we're underway.
Shannon Kalawan of St. Augustine's in Raleigh, N.C., won the college women's 400m hurdles in 57.37. Reanda Richards of Rutgers hd the second-fastest time, 57.58.
Lashanna Graham of Jamaica's Edwin Allen won the high school girls 400m hurdles in 58.02.
Now we're into high school girls 4x800m heats. The top 12 times overall qualify for tomorrow's Championship of Amreica race.
Neumann-Goretti, which won the New Balance national indoor title in the girls 4x8 last month at the Armory in New York, just clocked 9:05.84.
Neumann-Goretti had the second-fastest heat time in the 4x8s. The splits were: Makayla Perry 2:16.86, Dasia Wilson 2:16.27, Sanaiya Watts 2:18.22, Kami Joi Hickson 2:14.51.
Edwin Allen of Clarendon, Jamaica had the fastest heat time (which is no surprise), 9:02.43: Jessica McLean 2:13.41, Kayan Green 2:10.58, Abigail Pinnock 2:20.13, Rushana Dwyer 2:18.32.
Surprisingly, two-time reigning (and three of the last four) champion Holmwood Tech did not enter a girls 4x8 team this year.
We are in high school girls 4x100 heats from now until around 1:30.
